News From Sterling Creek Welsh

March 7, 2010 - I'm very excited to announce the purchase of Clanfair Whiskey River from Family Partners Welsh. Whiskey is by our imported stallion *Holyoake Copper-Field and out of the imported mare *Waxwing Garland. This colt has awesome breeding and I'm super excited to see what the future holds for him. Whiskey is settling in and I hope to have pictures up soon.

September 30, 2009 - There is a new pony at Sterling Creek. I am very excited to welcome *Holyoake Copper-Field to the pony herd. He is a 6 year old imported section B stallion. He is a full brother to the multiple performance and halter champion mare *Holyoake Anastacia. Copper was shown a few times as a 2 year old and has just been hanging out at Family Partners Welsh for the last several years. He now has about 4 weeks under saddle and is doing great. I'm looking forward to getting him out to the shows next year.

The show year has been good so far. Glitter made her debut in the youth classes with Riley and they've done awesome. The improvement they have made at each show has been exciting to watch and I'm very proud of both of them. It will be fun to see what next year brings for them.

Maverick has been out at the shows this year primarily in performance. He and I have both been working hard at improving our hunter goes and I was super happy with his courses at the WPCSA Western National this month. He earned the Reserve Champion title in hunters and was named Champion for english pleasure. He is such an awesome pony!

January 3, 2009 - It's my favorite time of year - the beginning of a new year. I'm already gearing up for show season and riding/driving as much as the weather allows. We've had rain which has been really needed. We are expecting five foals this year - 3 B's, 1 C and 1 half-welsh. A few of the foals will be for sale so check back often or give me a call. We ended the 2008 show year with all goals met and few extra's along the way. Maverick, Glitter and Vandal all completed the point requirements for their WPCSA Legion of Merits. I am very proud of all three of these exceptional ponies. Glitter also finished as National Reserve Champion Long Stirrup Adult and Maverick came in 3rd place. It was a fun Long Stirrup race and I would like to congratulate the Clardy's on their beautiful stallion winning the championship. Happy New Year!

June 2, 2008 - We had a great show this past weekend at the SLW&PA Summer Gold Show. Our homebred yearling gelding Sterling Creek Winston (Goldhills Maverick LOM x Evans Wish Upon A Star) was named Reserve Supreme Champion Gelding! This honor was earned against some extremely nice Welsh geldings. I am absolutely thrilled with the foals from Maverick's first foal crop. Another Maverick filly, Sterling Creek Ana's Mimzy (x Cuesta Anacapa) earned double seconds in the 2 & under B filly class. At an earlier show in City of Industry Sterling Creek Candyman (Maverick x Seaing Spots) was named Reserve Champion Half-Welsh. At the SLW&PA show Goldhills All That Glitters was named double champion B mare and double reserve grand champion B. Glitter also earned the long stirrup hunter division champion and reserve champion english pleasure title. Not to be outdone, Maverick was named the division champion in western pleasure, winning all three of the classes. It was a fun show.

January 6, 2008 - Winter is here and it is a cold rainy weekend so I've had time to do some updating on the website. We had a great 2007 show season with some good year-end high score placings. Check out the home page to see a listing of each ponies placings. We are proud to welcome *Llanarth Finch to Sterling Creek. She is a beautiful B mare that is bred to *Llanarth Byron for a 2008 foal. More than likely we will be retaining this foal. Thank you to Mindy Cavalleto for selling us this beautiful mare. We are looking forward to the 2008 show season. At this time our show string will consist of Maverick, Vandal, Glitter and Auto.

October 30, 2007 - One more show to go for the 2007 season. I love showing and will be sad to see the season come to an end but it is time. The ponies are starting to get fuzzy and I have done enough body clipping to last me a long time. This year has been a lot of fun and full of unexpected changes. Goldhills Silver Screen has moved onto a new family to make another little girl's dreams come true. Although I am not a little girl, he sure made all of my dreams come true. He was a delightful pony and I will miss him dearly. However, Clanfair Autograph will be coming home in two weeks so I have new goals and dreams awaiting him. I am very excited about Auto finally coming home. He will be shown at the Holiday show in November and then he'll get a winter break before hitting the Welsh shows next year. Sterling Creek Winston will also be making the trip to the Holiday Welsh Show. Winston is a spectacular B colt by Goldhills Maverick and is for sale. He has a ton of pony type and is just beautiful. Happy Halloween to everyone and don't eat too much chocolate!

August 31, 2007 - I have the most exciting news to share. We have just purchased Clanfair Autograph from Gretchen & Gary Aitken of Family Partners Welsh. Auto is an absolutely outstanding section B colt. Autograph is by the multiple Supreme Champion and Royal Welsh Champion * Wedderlie Mardi Gras and out of the UK Medal Earner and multiple breeding/performance champion mare *Holyoake Anastasia. To say we are a little thrilled over this purchase is an understatement. We are looking forward to welcoming Auto home after he is weaned. The show season has been outstanding so far for 2007. We still have a few more shows to go including the American and Central Nationals. We have already attended the Western Nationals and came home with mutiple Reserve Championships in western & english pleasure and pleasure driving. Not bad for a couple of 3 year old stallions. We are extremely proud of both of the boys - Goldhills Maverick & Dry Creek Master Vandal. You can see pictures of both on the stallion page.

May 1, 2007 - Two babies on the ground and one more to go. We have a grey B colt and B filly both sired by Maverick. I am absolutely thrilled with both. There are pictures of both on the expectation page. We are still waiting on Sea to foal, she was due last Sunday. We have attended two bronze Welsh shows so far this year. I am hoping to get a show page up soon. The ponies have done extremely well in their performance debut. We will be showing three 3 year olds this year in performance. We are also happy to welcome Dry Creek Master Vandal to stand at public stud here at Sterling Creek. Please check him out on the stallion page. He is a beautiful section B stallion. Watch for Vandal in the driving and halter classes. We would also like to welcome Windridge Simply Amazing to our 2007 show string. This is one beautiful filly. Watch for her in the B fillies class.

February 28, 2007 - We just got back from the AGM in New Orleans. We had a great time. It was so much fun to receive our National awards on Saturday evening. I think I had a huge smile on my face the entire night. Evans Wish Upon A Star is due March 9th. I am so excited to see what she has. This will be Maverick's first baby on the ground. I'll let you know as soon as the eagerly awaited bundle arrives.

January 16, 2007 - Happy New Year! 2006 is over and what a year for Sterling Creek. We had a great year at the WPCSA shows. Also please take a look at our sale page. We have several nice D & B prospects for sale. A couple are well started under saddle. Also a couple of very nice aluminum trailers for sale.

October 10, 2006 - The show season is winding down, just one more to go. The last three shows for Goldhills Maverick have been awesome. At the Western Nationals he was named Champion Jr Section B Colt, at the American Nationals in Tulsa he was named Reserve Champion Section B Colt and then at the Halloween Haunt in October he went Reserve Grand Champion B behind his dad - Gayfields Call The Cops. We will be leaving for the last show of season in Pomona is a couple of weeks. Maverick is still leading the nation for Section B Colts.

July 15, 2006 - We are having a great show season so far. Goldhills Maverick is currently leading the nation in section B colts and Lascaux Tahoe is sitting second for section C geldings. After much thought I have decided to offer Lascaux Tahoe for sale. He is a wonderful gelding that is ready to continue showing in any venue with a new owner. This gelding is ultra sweet and a real people pony. Tahoe is only offered for sale because of my decision to concentrate on my B's. Also please take a look at the sales page and Sterling Creek Antonio. Antonio is an absolutely beautiful top quality section B colt. Don't miss out on this colt, he is top-notch. I am also very excited to announce that Sydney MacWhorter will be showing Goldhills Silver Screen for the remainder of the 2006 show season. At their first show together (also the 1st time Sydney had ever ridden Cash) they won the youth trail, were english pleasure division champions and tied for western pleasure division champion. Thank you so much to Carrie and Sydney MacWhorter for showing Cash. Watch for Sydney and Cash's debut in short stirrup.

May 3, 2006 - Sterling Creek Antonio arrived yesterday morning at about 4:30. He is a beautiful palomino colt by Goldhills Most Wanted and out of Cuesta Anacapa. He has the most exquisite head. You can see a picture of him on the expectations and sale page. Antonio was a perfect end to a great weekend. We went to the West Coast Welsh Spring Show hosted by Family Partners Welsh. We had a wonderful time and the ponies did really well. A few of the highlights were Maverick receiving a 1st & 3rd in the 2 & under Section B Colt class. Tahoe won his halter class under both judges and then stood reserve supreme champion gelding under Judge Jernagan. Tahoe also won a 2nd and two 1sts in his C/D english pleasure classes and was named division champion. Our next show is May 20th in Stockton CA. I'll keep you posted on how Sterling Creek Welsh does.

April 21, 2006 - Our first show for 2006 was the D'Alonzo Saddle Up Series #1 Welsh Bronze show held April 15 in Stockton. Sterling Creek had a great show. Our stallion, Goldhills Maverick, won a 1st and 2nd and then went Reserve Grand Ghampion B under Judge Casipit. Lascaux Tahoe (pictured) received two 2nds in his C/D gelding class and then went on to be named Reserve Supreme Champion Gelding also under Judge Casipit. This was also Tahoe's first show under saddle and he did really well. He received three 3rd's in the very large english pleasure classes and two 2nd's in trail. Lascaux Soprano won two 2nds in her C/D 2 & under class. The next show for us is a WPCSA Gold show in Roseburg OR on April 29 & 30.

3/18/06

What an exciting day I had. Goldhills Silver Screen went for his first ever drive. My dad, my husband, Silver Screen and I have been working toward this day for almost 2 months. The weather finally cooperated and luckily so did the pony. Silver Screen did wonderful. He was relaxed and really seemed to enjoy himself.

More exciting news is that Goldhills Maverick has covered his first mare, Evans Wish Upon A Star. Everything went great and now we just need to wait and see if we were successful.

Our first show is April 14th and I'm really looking forward to it. It is a bronze show in Stockton and we will only be taking Maverick and Tahoe. I will let you know how we do.
